Disco Polo Music

disco polo

Disco polo is unique and native to Poland, and has existed in its present keyboard dominated form since the early 1990s. It is derived from contemporary folk tunes and an essential ingredient at many Polish wedding receptions and parties. The main, and often the only,  instrument used in disco polo music are the keyboards.

Disco polo is perceived by many people as rather primitive and lacking in any real artistic value. And has lost some of its popularity over the last two or three years. However, Disco Polo remains a firm favourite with many Poles, especially in country areas.

Some of the better known disco polo 'musicians' include: Akcent, Shazza, and Stachursky.
