Lubniewice is one of the smallest towns (population 2,000) in Poland. It is located in the heart of the the Lubuskie Lakeland, in the west of Poland. Lubniewice is a popular tourist, recreation and sports centre due to its two lakes, Krajnik and Lubiaz, and the forests around the town which are rich in wildlife, berries and mushrooms. There are also a number of horse riding locations in and around Lubniewice. Lubniewice was once a medieval stronghold owned by the Von Wadow family from the 14th century until the end of the 19th century. The town boasts a number of fine and historic buildings. These attractions include: - 15th century Gothic Church - 'Stary Zamek' Castle, set in a landscaped park. - 'Zamek' Renaissance Palace, and park. - numerous 19th century houses. Lubniewice has a range of hotels, guest houses, vacation rental apartments and agrotourist places to stay in, and a couple very good restaurants. The large lakes in the Lubniewice area (Lubiąż, Krajnik, Lubniewisko) are perfect for anyone interested in fishing and/or water sports such as canoeing, kayaking, sailing, swimming, and windsurfing. Visitors who are fond of cycling should also find the extensive cycle routes around the town of great use and interest.
