Miedzychod, Polen

Miedzychod is a small town with a history of more than 600 years. It is located in the west of Poland (60 kms from Gorzow and 85 kms from Poznan), and at the heart of the Miedzychodzko - Sierakowskie Lake District.

The area around Miedzychod is famous for its beautiful lakes, and splendid forests, which include the magnificent Notecka Primeval Forest. indeed the Miedzychód region is sometimes known as the "Country of One Hundred Lakes". These lakes are the habitats of many bird species, like falcons, black storks, sea eagles, black kites, cranes, grey herons, and swans.

There are several very good agrotourist farms just outside the town, which accept guests all year long. These farms offer board and lodging and provide tourists with numerous rural attractions - horse and cart rides, horse riding, bonfires, wild boar roasts, regional cuisine and old Polish hospitality. Some also offer guests the chance to milk a goat, shear sheep, or try their hand at archery!
