Bledzew is a village in the province of Lubuskie in the west of Poland. Until the end of the Second World War it was part of Germany and called Blesen. Here are a couple of images from our collection showing how it looked at that time.

Polish Beer

Polish beers
Two different Polish beers – Lubniewickie brewed locally in Witnica and Magnus by Browar Jagiello in Chelm-Podrowka. Beer, of course, is only drunk by those over the age of 18!

It can not be denied – beer is a very popular drink in Poland! Some of the most popular brands include; Lech, Żywiec, Tyskie and Warka; but there are also an increasing number of small scale micro breweries popping up all over Poland. In recent years cider has also begun to become a drink loved by many Poles.

Riverside Guitarist Dead

News from Poland

riverside guitarist

Just discovered this sad news about the sudden death of Polish progressive rock band Riverside’s guitar player through their website:

“In our deepest pain and disbelief we would like to inform you that our dearest friend and brother Piotr Grudzinski has passed away this morning. We kindly ask you to respect the privacy of his family and friends.”

Piotr Grudzinski was just 40.

The Polish band Riverside have only released their new album Love, Fear And The Time Machine (2015) and were about to start their 2016 tour.

Riverside are probably the best known Polish rock band. And since they sing in English they have a large folowing both here in Poland and throughout the world.

Here’s a sample of their music. Here they are playing live in 2014 for the Polish radio station Trójka.

The cause of death is yet to be released.
