Oil and Gas Exploration, Poland

Oil Derrick

One of a number of pumping jacks which can be found in the provinces of Lubuskie and Zachodniopomorskie in the west of Poland. This photograph was taken just outside the village of Retno in Lubuskie.

Several oil and gas fields have been discovered in the last two or three years near Gorzow Wielkopolski. The largest reserves appear to be located in the Miedzychod and Lubiatow oil fields and are believed to contain 7 billion m3 of gas and 4 million tonnes of crude oil. Currently the largest production well is at Debno and its annual production is about 400 million m3 of gas and 400 thousand tonnes of crude oil. Further exploration is underway in the Baltic Sea and the west of Poland.
