Shops and Shopping in Poland Since 1990 the shopping experience in Poland has completely changed. Most towns and cities in Poland now have a range of supermarkets and hypermarkets where Poles can spend their money on everything from jars of ready made Bigos (Hunter's Stew), as in this picture, to a new television. These stores range from the lack lustre and downmarket, Netto and Biedronka stores, to the popular upmarket supermarkets, Tesco and Auchan. As a result of the rapid spread of superstores and the number of people shopping in stores like Tesco, many traditional small shops and kiosks have been forced out of business.
